Last updated: October 2025
These SMS Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Computers in Ministry (“CIM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) SMS/text messaging services. By opting in to receive SMS communications from CIM, you agree to these Terms, our SMS Privacy Policy, and our Privacy Policy.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By providing your mobile number and opting in (e.g., via web form, written request, or replying “YES”), you consent to receive SMS communications from CIM. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not opt in or use our SMS services.
2. Service Description
CIM uses SMS to provide information, alerts, support, and updates related to your relationship with us. We do not send unsolicited marketing or fundraising texts without your explicit consent.
3. User Responsibilities
- Accurate Information: You agree to provide a valid mobile number and to notify us of any changes.
- Consent: You must have the authority to consent to receive SMS messages at the number provided.
- Opt-Out: You may opt out at any time by replying “STOP” to any CIM SMS or by contacting us. After opting out, you will not receive further SMS unless you opt in again.
- Help: For assistance, reply “HELP” to any CIM SMS or contact us.
4. Message Frequency and Charges
- Frequency: Message frequency varies based on your interactions with CIM. You will not receive marketing or fundraising texts unless you have specifically opted in for those communications.
- Charges: Standard message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier plan. CIM is not responsible for any charges incurred by your carrier.
5. Privacy and Data Use
- Data Handling: Your mobile number and SMS content are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and SMS Policy.
- No Sale or Sharing: CIM does not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or SMS content with third parties except as required by law or to provide our services (e.g., with our SMS service provider, who is contractually obligated to protect your data).
- Security: While we use reasonable safeguards, SMS is not a fully secure communication channel. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information via text.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use CIM’s SMS services to:
- Send unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent messages
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on the rights of others
7. Children’s Privacy
CIM does not knowingly communicate via SMS with children under 13 (or under 16 where required by law). If you believe a child has provided us with a mobile number, please contact us for prompt removal.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated via our website or, where appropriate, via SMS. Continued use of our SMS services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
9. Limitation of Liability
CIM is not liable for any delays, delivery failures, or damages resulting from the use of SMS services, including those caused by network issues, carrier delays, or technical malfunctions.
